The nasal swab is a self-swab. The swab is inserted about half an inch into the nostril. Using medium pressure against the nostril the whole time, rub the swab in a large circular motion at least ten (10) times. This is repeated on the other side. The swab is put into a collection tube, placed into a biohazard bag, and mailed to the laboratory the same day. Results are given usually within 48 hours.
The saliva test is a self-administered test. A collection tube is filled with saliva to a designated line. The saliva is mixed with a special solution, sealed, put in a biohazard bag, and mailed to the laboratory the same day. Results are given usually within 48 hours.
